About Gould and Fall Piano

Gould and Fall Piano was established in 2002. Each semester we have between 40 and 50 students enrolled in private piano lessons. In addition to their weekly lessons, our students perform in monthly master classes, and two studio recitals each year. Many of our students also choose to take part in other competitions, recitals, and festivals throughout the year.

We teach from our home in Greeley, Colorado where we have two studios, 3 grand pianos, an electronic keyboard, and a harpsichord. We also make use of music software in lessons, but our primary focus is making music at the piano.

In addition to our website and blog, we keep our parents informed about studio events with a monthly newsletter which we email directly to you.

We emphasize the importance of a positive work ethic for developing skill at the piano. We prefer to use the word 'skilled' rather than 'talented' when referring to musical ability. In our experience, fine musicians are made, not born.

As pianists and teachers, we know the importance of beginning lessons. The early development of a coordinated technique and of phrase-wise listening skills is vital to a student's success in, and enjoyment of, playing the piano. Early development of such skills requires that, from the very beginning, the student have lessons with a teacher who possesses a high level of knowledge and skill.

While we know that only a small percentage of piano students will have a career in music, we require a high level of commitment from all of our students. The only way to have lasting enjoyment from playing piano is to develop skills that make piano playing fluent, and developing those skills requires a commitment to consistent practice. The amount of fun had while playing the piano is directly related to the degree of skill one achieves through practice.

In addition to private lessons, we offer tuning services as well as solo, duo, and ensemble performances.
